December 24, 2000

  • Update to my web-page editing software, Adobe GoLive - now using the Japanese edition, v5.

    Version 4 (English) had a nasty tendency to mangle Japanese text in two circumstances: when editing Japanese text it would often suddenly flip out and display garbage, and when uploading Japanese pages via FTP, GoLive would mangle all the text in transit. Mac applications are usually better behaved than that...

  • Updated the Image Harvest page, with a better example, and a new version of the source code that actually opens in the current version of REALbasic.

June 11, 2000

  • Added a new image to my Gallery Page! The first image I've made using the Japanese 3D software Shade.

  • Re-uploaded all the other gallery pics too -- I had to change the email address on each one (from my old Geocities address to the current Yahoo one), and they weren't optimized enough anyway.

  • Site overhaul for 2000! This year's theme is blue! Why? I dunno, it just is. I messed around in Photoshop and it came out blue.

  • Utter re-format / re-do of the whole site.
  • Changed the overall theme from black to white
  • Now using Adobe GoLive 4
  • The Japanese version is now partially available.
  • Put Japanese<-->English links on each page for ease of bilingual-ness.

March 10, 1999

  • Removed any trace of the vestigal no-frames version. I realized that if I had four versions of my site to update (English Frames/no Frames, Japanese Frames/no Frames), I'd never get around to doing anything at all! (:
  • Modified the Splash page graphics accordingly.
  • Added the Sumo Guy page to the Palm OS section
  • Gave the Palm III cradle surgery page a pretty button and one measly image
  • Added the Dead Smurf Software page to the "Other" section
  • Gave the Shortwave radio section a button
  • Began some hardwiring of text/bg colors, as stylesheets appear to be a bit. . .er, unreliable.

February 7, 1999

Tweaks:

  • Serious bandwidth-optimization! (Never design a web site on a 1280x960 display!! :) All navigation graphics resized.
  • Now using GoLive CyberStudio 3.1.1 for site-wrangling, which is pretty neat. Still figuring out how that works...
  • Finally tested on a Windows machine: new things to do... (:
  • Added "New" button to navigation bar: now possible to return to this start page.
  • Lightened an image or two to better support Windows' gamma setting.

Problems yet remaining:

  • Windows machines: Most images are still too dark.
  • Gallery images are probably too big (in both dimentions and file-size)...
  • Windows machines: IE 4 displays my stylesheets like hell... Maybe I'll just hardwire it...
  • Non-frames version still non-functional.
  • Japanese versions (frames/non-frames) non-functional.
  • Some articles still have a placeholder image in place of their eventual picture buttons.
  • Lots of articles still missing.
  • Some articles missing images & coherent formatting.
  • Few to no links to anywhere in the outside world yet, (:
  • Netscape (4.5) forgets that it's supposed to be using a stylesheet once you resize the window (huh?) Hitting the "Reload" button temporarily fixes it.
  • Internet Explorer (4.5) doesn't display text using the font specified in my stylesheet, though it accepts the stylesheet's background and text colors (hello?)

  • Initial upload. It gets better from here :)
  • Thanks to Michihara Katsumi-sensei for prodding me to actually get this page up on the Web, and then fix it, rather than the other way around!
